Leaf of Life Essence is used to address various forms of deficiency by tonifying, augmenting, nourishing, enriching, fortifying or supplementing the qi, blood, yin, or yang. Leaf of Life ESSENCE address the different aspects (yin, yang, qi, or blood) or a combination of aspects (yang and qi, yin and blood); by organ (Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lungs, Kidneys) or a combination of organs (Liver-Kidney, Spleen-Lung); or by both aspect and organ (Lung qi deficiency, Kidney yang deficiency).
Leaf of Life Essence is also used to address common indications of blood deficiency and when the fluids are depleted and the yin is deficient. When the disorde is relatively superficial, it is regarded as dryness of the Lungs and Stomach. Deper or more chronic disorders affect the Liver and Kidneys manifest as soreness and weakness of the lower back and legs, light-eadedness, vertigo, tidal fever with malar flush, rritability, night sweats, insomnia, and spontaneous emissions.

Coraila is rich in iron, has twice the beta carotene of broccoli, twice the calcium of spinach, twice the potassium of bananas, and contains vitamins C and B 1 to 3, phosphorus and good dietary fiber. It is believed to be good for the liver and has been proven by western scientists to contain insulin. Coraila is used in this formula as an anti-tumor agent, and inhibit HIV-1 infection, and cleansing the blood. Coraila is a cool/dry and acrid herb that focuses on the lung and large intestine. Granny Back Bone is used in this formula for its action on vital essence. It is a slightly acrid, cool herb with actions on the lungs, kidney and liver. It contains the alkaloids berberine and isochondrodendrine. Granny Back Bone is mixed with other plants in a tonic for pain. Granny Back Bone tonifies the liver and kidneys and augments essence, for infertility, impotence, spermatorrhea, low back pain, tinnitus and debility of the essence and blood. Granny Back Bone is used for such symptoms as weak lower back and knees, diarrhea, decreased hearing, and toothache and from deficient kidneys. Granny Back Bone tonifies the kidneys for impotence, urinary incontinence, and nocturnal emission.
Conga Pump is used in this formula for its vital essence Function. It is an astringent, hot and moist herb. Its action is on the nervous system and on the heart, kidney and liver. Conga Pump contains many flavonoids which variously have cardiotonic, vasodilating, spasmolytic, antiedemic, diuretic, hypotensive, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory or antitumor properties. Cecropia Angulata is decocted for a diuretic to alleviate kidney and bladder disorders and to remedy fevers. Conga Pumpis boiled in water and the liquid is drunk to calm a nervous heart. Conga Pumpis also used for heart, liver problems and antimalarial. Conga Pump is used to treat abcesses, wounds and cuts.
Castor oil is used in this formula as a purgative for its softening and moisturizing emollient qualities. Castor Oil is a bland, cool and dry herb. Its action as a purgative is on the large intestine spleen and lungs. Castor Oil is considered anodyne, antidote, aperient, bactericide, cathartic, cyanogenetic, discutient, emetic, emollient, expectorant, insecticide, lactagogue, larvicidal, laxative, purgative, tonic and vermifuge, inflammation and rheumatism. Castor Oil contains Phytosterols: Brassicasterol; Flavonoids: Kaempferol, quercetin, rutin (aerial parts); Fixed oil: Ricinoleic, linoleic, palmitic, oleic and stearic acid. Alkaloid: Ricinine. It was taken orally or used as an enema and as a ‘cleansing remedy’ for gastrointestinal discomfort (colicky pain, dysentery). Ricinoleic acid, a component of castor oil, acts in the large intestine to reduce water resorption and triggers rhythmic muscle contractions (peristalsis) by binding receptors on the intestinal lining.
